"We're not having a Christmas tree this year"

A few days ago my Mum tried to tell me that we weren't going to have a Christmas tree because we have nowhere to put it, yet we have had a tree every Christmas of the ten years we have lived in this house, and the layout is exactly the same. So why now? Why this year did she decide we are not going to have one?

I think some people are losing the excitement that comes with Christmas time. I remember when we couldn't wait to buy and decorate the tree. Mum was the perfectionist and one year took the whole thing down and redecorated it because it wasn't good enough! Where has that gone? It started last year when me and my boyfriend bought and put up the tree by ourselves. Although it was nice to do it on our own, I still wonder where the fun has gone. It may be because me and my Sister are older now so the whole concept of Santa Claus is a thing if the past, or that Christmas is becoming too repetitive. I think a large percentage is that time is going way too fast now. It only seems like a few months ago when we were celebrating Christmas last year, yet we have already returned to the festive season. Maybe we haven't had time to look forward to that time of year and it has simply come around too soon.

Anyway, whatever Mum says, we are definitely having a Christmas tree no matter what.
